Did I miss something? When did it become the President’s job to bail me out of credit card debt? The President is supposed to be Commander-in-Chief, is supposed to sign or veto Federal legislation, is supposed to nominate judges, and can issue pardons. If I buy stuff I can’t afford, why should I expect help from the President?
Presidential candidates are getting questions like “What are you doing to do about credit card debt?”
I wish one of the candidates would respond to such questions with “Why should I do anything?
Who applied for that credit card? You did.
Who used that credit card? You did.
Who enjoyed the goods and services obtained through use of that credit card? You did.
Who should pay the bill for that credit card? You should."
If the government interferes, it will be unfair. The credit card company is performing a service. Should the credit card company not get paid for performing that service? Should the shareholders of that company suffer? Should the other customers be punished? Should the employees of that company lose their jobs?
Should the President take money from responsible taxpayers to pay off your debts?
Don’t like credit card debt? Don’t buy things you can’t afford!
Responsibility. Don’t Leave home without it.
