U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Stephen Reinhardt ordered compensation for a same-sex couple to correct what the court considered an injustice. One of the two men works for the federal government; he and his partner got a neutered marriage license during California's five month window before the California Marriage Amendment was adopted.
