Can you imagine if a gun store took the position that they should seek out business from criminals who might use their guns to aid a criminal lifestyle, and require less identification from criminals than law-abiders? The Left would freak. Yet I ask you –
how is a bank offering credit cards and other services to illegal aliens any different? Do I think the government should stop this? No, except in individual cases where fraud, identity theft, or other crimes are being committed.
Now that Bank of Mexico – uh, I mean Bank of America – is offering credit cards to Mexican citizens (and others) living illegally in the United States and not requiring them to provide a Social Security Number
while still requiring Americans to provide one, ask yourself:
Why shouldn’t Mexicans illegally move to Los Angeles?Legal immigration is a hassle. The waiting and paperwork is for suckers. Obviously, with millions of illegal aliens in the U.S. (reserved estimates start at 12,000,000), how hard can it be to get here or stay here illegally?
We know that the U.S is the greatest nation on God’s green Earth.
Mexico, on the other hand, has too much corruption at all levels of government. Someone who is poor and “unconnected” in Mexico has little hope of making a better life staying there.
Meanwhile, what will they find in the greater Los Angeles area?
Jobs. Employers will hire them with little fear of serious negative consequences for doing so. The wages and working conditions will be better than in Mexico. Their job may even be protected by a union, and they can get workers comp, welfare, and social security. The written materials and signs in the workplace will accommodate their lack of English skills, too. Businesses love them, because they are cheap and hiring them is less of a hassle than relocating to Mexico, where they have to deal with the corrupt government.
Housing. Banks apparently have no qualms about helping illegal aliens buy housing. Or, they can rent with no hassle. They might even be able to get housing subsidized by those chumps who waited in line to immigrate.
Education. Wow. Free education all the way through high school, and then subsidized university education. What a deal!
Health Care. Currently, the emergency room is the place to go. Free expert medical care. What a deal. If certain socialist health care reform is put in place, they won’t have to settle for the just going to the emergency room any more.
I.D. The Mexican government passes out matricula consular cards, primarily for their citizens living illegally in the U.S. But if a California lawmaker gets his way, they’ll be able to get a California Driver’s License. Bank of America credit cards will help, too.
Infrastructure and utilities. Roads, waterworks, plumbing/sewers, flood control, garbage collection, electricity, natural gas, phone service – usually subsidized by those foolish citizen taxpayers and legal immigrants.
Public Mass Transit. Very cheap bus and rail rides, subsidized by all of those citizen idiots.
Church. Hey, isn’t it nice that the Catholic Church’s Cardinal Mahoney is sticking up for them? It’s also nice to have church services in many denominations in Spanish.
Friendly Law Enforcement. They speak Spanish. They’re not allowed to take bribes or beat people up. Illegals can be defended in court on the taxpayer’s dime. The prisons are nicer, and since there are a bunch of other Mexican citizens there, there is a support/protection network. Although, should they get injured, it could mean big bucks from taxpayers. And hey, if they kill an American cop, they can flee to Mexico, guaranteeing that they won't have to face the death penalty.
Customer Service. Businesses have Spanish signage and written materials, Spanish phone recordings, their employees speak Spanish – heck, there are Mexican chain stores. Plus, some businesses will now take pesos, so you don’t have to go though the hassle of converting to dollars.
Politicians. They’re looking out for them. The mayor of Los Angeles proudly stands with them in protests and speaks Spanish. The California legislature is doing everything it can to make their illegal presence as comfortable as possible for them. There are city councils that have declared their cities sanctuaries for them, and have even dropped regulation and code enforcements to accommodate their lifestyle. After all – why should they be expected to conform to the standards and culture they have illegally invaded? The President of the U.S. and the majority of Congress want to reward their flouting of our laws with U.S. citizenship and tax breaks.
Voting. Nobody checks your I.D. when you go to vote or checks to see if you are a citizen. The ballot is in their language, too.
Media. Advertisers reach out to every market, and illegal aliens are no exception. Spanish advertising abounds. And why not? There are television channels, radio stations, and newspapers all geared towards the illegal aliens. How can anyone ignore such a huge market?
Social/Support Groups. There are many places to openly meet up with other illegal aliens for good times and support. Heck, they’ll tell the illegal aliens that the land really belongs to them anyway, even if they were born hundreds of miles south of the border. Why learn English? Why not fly the Mexican flag over the U.S. flag?
So, put yourselves in their shoes. Why
wouldn’t you come to L.A. (or some similar U.S. area)? Border enforcement is lax, and if a border agent actually stops you, you can easily get a lawyer to file a multi-million dollar lawsuit. Hey, it’s worth a try, isn’t it?
Now, I don’t want the people of Mexico to suffer. I’d like to see their culture fight corruption. I think U.S. employers should be able to hire anyone, but then I don’t think the Federal government should be involved with employment issues and payroll taxes – but it is. Homebuilders should be able to sell to anyone, and landlords should be able to rent to anyone – but I should not have to subsidize their business. Schools should be able to take any student they want to – but the schools should not be able to force me to support them. Medical professionals should help anyone they can – but again, I should not be forced to pay for that care. Infrastructure and transit should be funded by user fees, not by money I’m forced to hand over – and then I won’t care who uses it. Businesses should be able to cater to their customers as they see fit, and I can choose whether or not to be their customer, and should be force to give them subsidies.
As for the churches – Christians should be – and are – working to make things better in Mexico. And, if they feel called to help those here illegally with voluntary charity – great. I do not believe, however, that everyone should be forced to support Mexico’s citizens.
Control the borders for our security and health.Transfer most publicly funded projects and programs to private funding.Until those two things happen, do not reward businesses that hire illegal aliens.Increase legal immigration.Voluntarily reach out to those in need.
